Psychological testing refers to the administration of psychological tests. A psychological test is "an objective and standardized measure of a sample of behavior". (Wikipedia)

Psychological tests offer an independent view of a third party on one´s abilities.

It is very useful because in business – as manager or HR - you must often rely on your own assessment (what you think about the employee?) and/or the self-assessment of the employee (what he or she means about him/her self).

A useful psychological test must be both valid (i.e., there is evidence to support the specified interpretation of the test results) and reliable.
